To Sell VIA Rail via The Internet
Since VIA Rail Retired Its Position From
The GDS And Moved To The Internet,
Booking Them Has Never Been Easier!
Getting Started
IATA/IATAN Registered Agents:
The ITSS is
fully operational in Canada and in the United States.
Consequently,
all travel agents located in either country
are welcome to use the program. As for authorization to use the ReserVIA
booking and the ITSS settlement process, all United States ARC and
Canadian BSP approved travel agents can
go directly
to
IATA/IATAN
to activate an ITSS account.
Non-IATA/IATAN
Registered Agents:
This is the same for all others, however, if you are NOT
appointed by ARC or BSP, you must
first apply to IATA/IATAN as follows:
United States
Travel Agents
who are NOT ARC should follow the instructions at
IATAN's Travel Sales Intermediary (TSI) website.
Canadian Travel Agents
who are NOT BSP should follow the instructions at IATA's
Travel Industry Designator Service (TIDS) website.
Through this
process you will be provided with an IATA/IATAN account number.
Once you have this account setup, you should sign up with IATA for their
IATA Travel Settlement Services (ITSS) and ReserVIA .

Once
Registered, You Can Use ReserVIA

Booking
You can
use ReserVIA to book train trips for your clients and receive
commission payment.
Payment
You
should use your client's credit card to make the payment online.
Please take an imprint of the credit card and obtain your
client's signature and keep the slip as a record to protect your
agency from potential credit card charge-backs or frauds.
If there is a credit card charge-back, a payment request will be
done by VIA to the agency through ITSS.
Ticketing
ReserVIA will send e-Booking Confirmation to you with a copy to
your client, if you wish. Please request your client to
exchange this e-Booking Confirmation for a paper ticket at a VIA
Station prior to boarding. Self-service ticketing kiosks
are available at major Stations. Your client should scan
the bar code on the e-Booking Confirmation to obtain the
ticket(s). It's that simple.
Trip Cancellation
Should
the travel plans of your client change before the issuance of
paper tickets, you should cancel the trip online. Remember that
discounted fare plans are subject to cancellation penalties.
The net refund amount will be credited to your client's credit
card account.
However, after the issuance of paper tickets, you should contact
VIA to cancel the space and your client should obtain the refund
at a VIA Station. Your Agency should never refund a VIA
paper ticket. A commission recall will be done by VIA
through the ITSS for all paper ticket refunds done at VIA
Stations.
Customer Support
VIA
provides e-mail support for ReserVIA
bookings. Simply click on the CONTACT VIA link to report
any problems encountered during the booking process or to submit
your client's special request.
Commission Payment
As discussed above, your Agency must be
registered with IATA Travel Settlement
Services (ITSS) to receive commission payments. The
commission payment will be made through IATA Travel Settlement
Services (ITSS), directly to your Agency's bank account on a
monthly basis around the 10th of the following month. VIA
currently pays a standard 5% commission. Commission will
be paid only on the online bookings made through ReserVIA . All
cancellations and refunds are subject to a commission recall.
This will be reflected in your Statement accessible through ITSS.
