TravelSafe's Crystal Ball
Unforeseeable Covered Events
Does
TravelSafe Insurance have a crystal ball to see what your
clients' trip has in store for them? Well, not exactly.
The world is a pretty unpredictable place and
somehow, it all gets amplified when you travel. TravelSafe can't cover
your clients for every unforeseen challenge, but they can put your clients' minds at ease for
many of them.
You may have heard the term, "Other Covered
Events". Other Covered Events simply means specifically defined unforeseeable
events or their consequences which occur while coverage of a TravelSafe policy
is in effect. Note that I said, "occur while coverage of a TravelSafe policy is
in effect". Any other challenges outside that scope (i.e. occurred before the
policy was purchased) are, generally, not covered.
Examples Of Unforeseeable Covered Events
Have you ever wondered,
specifically, what kinda' stuff is covered under this clause? In keeping with
TravelSafe's overall philosophy on giving wide-spread, broad coverage of risk,
the number of unforeseeable covered events is actually quite wide. So that you
can get a better idea of the specifics, let's venture into the insured
unforeseen!
Examples of
unforeseeable covered events include, but are not limited to:
Air Carrier delays resulting from inclement
weather, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft on which your clients are
scheduled to travel, or organized labor strikes that affect public
transportation.
Arrangements canceled by an airline, cruise
line, or tour operator, resulting from inclement weather, mechanical breakdown
of the aircraft on which your clients are scheduled to travel or organized labor
strikes that affect public transportation.
A change in plans by your clients, an
immediate family member traveling with them, or traveling companion, resulting
from one of the following events which occurs while coverage is in effect under
this Policy:
> Being
directly involved in a documented traffic accident while en route to
departure,
> Being hijacked, quarantined, required to
serve on a jury, or required by a court order to appear as a witness
in a legal action, provided your clients, an immediate family member
traveling with them or a traveling companion is not 1) a party to
the legal action, or 2) appearing as a law enforcement officer,
> Your clients' home is made uninhabitable
by fire, flood, volcano, earthquake, hurricane or other natural
disaster,
> Those insured being called into active
military service to provide aid or relief in the event of a natural
disaster,
> A documented theft of passports or
visas,
> A terrorist act which occurs in your
clients' departure city or in a city which is a scheduled
destination for their trip, provided: 1) the terrorist act occurs
within 30 days of the scheduled departure date for their trip; and
2) their premium is received within 15 days of the initial
deposit/payment for the trip,
> A cancellation of your clients' trip if
their arrival on the trip is delayed and causes them to lose 50% or
more of the scheduled trip duration due to the reasons covered under
the TravelSafe Travel Delay Benefit,
> Your clients' involuntary termination of
employment or a layoff which occurs more than 30 days after their
effective date of coverage. Those insured must have been
continuously employed with the same employer for 2 years prior to
the termination or layoff. This provision is not applicable to
temporary employment, independent contractors or self-employed
persons. |
